MacKenzie Miller is a long time friend of ours and internationally known yoga teacher whom we’ve had the pleasure to not only photograph, but share many a beer and dinner together as friends.
When she met and fell in love with Mike, an organic farmer, we knew it wouldn’t be long before these two tied the knot. At their Alberta Canada wedding this past April (where MacKenzie has begun the immigration process so these two can be a cute little yoga farming couple together… :) ), MacKenzie’s mom told us that for years she had known who we were. Because while MacKenzie hadn’t met the one quite yet, she told her mom, “When I do, these are my photographers.” So it was our complete honor (and really, we wouldn’t have had it any other way), to be present in their small and intimate wedding day.
Daniel, Penelope and myself were three of the 20 or so guests that were lucky enough to bear witness to this marriage. As we snapped away, we caught ourselves noticing, and later commenting to each other, about how easy the day felt. Everyone was happy. There was no fuss and frenzy. It was simple, joyful and straight to the heart. These emotions are evident in the photos, where you can see the constant exchange of smiles, laughs, tenderness and endearing glances between Mike and MacKenzie.
In preparing this blog post, we emailed Mike and MacKenzie with a few questions about their wedding and their marriage. These words particularly struck a chord with us.
“The best part of being married is truly feeling like you have the ultimate teammate in life. I feel like together we can conquer anything.
In 10 years I see us living on our own vegetable farm, with a few little ones, human and animal, running around.”
It’s this kind of love that inspires others and makes us appreciate the simplicity and grace that comes with knowing you’ve found your partner for life. And nothing else matters.
Thank you, M&M, for treating us to such a special wedding day. Can’t wait to visit in Canada again soon.
