Jonas and Beth gave us the opportunity to photograph another Jewish wedding, which we have to say, is quickly becoming our favorite type of wedding. The energy, enthusiasm and time honored traditions that go into a Jewish wedding win our hearts every time. And Jonas and Beth’s celebration at Castaway in Portland did not disappoint.
Before the ceremony got underway, we first photographed the two of them getting ready at Portland’s historic Heathman Hotel. Beth’s parents were the epitome of proud parents, helping her with the details of getting ready and just staring at her in awe as they watched their girl prepare to marry Jonas. At the Ketubah signing, one of our favorite parts of the day, Jonas and Beth’s closest family members gathered around them, simply beaming at the sight of these two performing an act that they themselves had performed years before with their spouses. It was the perfect coming together of families and a reminder of how significant weddings truly are.
From standing beneath the beautiful chuppah, to circling each other three times, to the breaking of the glass, to breaking the challah and dancing the horah dance, it truly is an honor to document the cultural experience that is a Jewish wedding. We would like to thank Beth and Jonas for inviting into their lives for a day. We’re so happy that we could be your photographers and truly wish you the happiest marriage. Mazel Tov!
Special thanks for Molli Barss of Soiree Event Planning, who, as always, beautifully coordinated this amazing day!
Lovely. I’ve seen a few Castaway weddings but nothing of this caliber.
