How Slava and Rhiannon managed to find us for their French’s Point wedding outside of Portland, Maine was a first for us. After receiving Slava’s initial inquiry in our inbox, we had barely begun to type our reply, when a few minutes later another email came through. “I just saw that you’re actually in Portland, Oregon, not Portland, Maine. But I love your photos and want to fly you to Maine for the wedding.” That’s right, he had been searching for “Portland wedding photographers” and stumbled across the wrong Portland. But luckily for us, he also stumbled right onto our website and carried on anyway. Fast forward 8 months and we were on a plane to our sister city across the U.S., gearing up for an incredibly fun weekend with Slava and Rhiannon.
The weekend began with their rehearsal dinner of traditional Maine lobster and bottles of rose, overlooking their ceremony site on the gorgeous French’s Point property. Let me stop and say that Slava and Rhiannon are two totally in love, crazy kids. It just pours out from them and their eyes rarely leave each other for more than a few moments at any given time. Rhiannon displayed that love on the rehearsal night proudly, by giving Slava a surprise performance on the balcony in a stunning gold dress that Shakira herself had once worn.
When it came time for these two to exchange vows for their traditional Jewish ceremony the following day, the love fest and creative moments continued. Slava rode in on a bicycle, a german shephard served as ringbearer, different friends and family read the seven blessings (bringing laughter and tears), and with a little coaching from Daniel, Slava delivered an epic breaking of the glass photo by jumping for our carefully placed GoPro. The reception did not disappoint in continuing the celebrations. After dining on local food trucks, guests enjoyed a few more surprises that Slava and Rhiannon had in store. We forgot to mention earlier an important trait these two possess. Dancing. They kicked off the dance floor shenanigans by performing a flawless first dance routine that was equal parts romantic, sexy and fun. After which, we happily spent the rest of the night documenting their talented group of friends and family tear it up on the dance floor too. But before the night was over, Rhiannon delivered a final surprise to Slava in another performance, this time with secret back up dancers. It was a flash mob meets love serenade and we loved every second of it.
We couldn’t be happier that Slava accidentally googled Portland, Oregon and accidentally fell in love with our photos. We easily fell in love with these two and feel honored that we could travel coast to coast for them. Mazel Tov!
I was the makeup artist for Rhiannon and am so pleased to see these gorgeous photos. She was such a beautiful and sweet bride. I wish them many blessings in the years to come.
