Mai and Hanh were two of the most open, kind and warm people to photograph. From the moment we arrived at Mai’s parents house the morning of the wedding, we were offered food, drinks, and whatever else we wanted. The day began with a traditional tea ceremony among close friends and family. It was an honor to witness such a sacred event as Mai and Hanh’s family exchanged tearful words and laughs to celebrate the couple. After which, a huge feast began and of course, they served us up some of the best roast pig we’ve ever had.
Their Portland wedding began at the Holy Redeemer church in North Portland, followed by eating and partying in a big, fun, family style reception at Wong King’s restaurant, a Portland institution for dim sum. It was the first time a couple has insisted that we sit at the head table with them and the bridal party. Mai, Hanh and their family introduced us to an array of new foods and we all toasted the new couple as family members poured us glasses of champagne. We felt like family with these two and we both absolutely love when we leave a wedding saying that. We thank you two for your generosity and we hope you enjoy the photos as much as we enjoyed taking them!
I love the colors in the photos and how you used them to express the day. The lighting is spectacular, as always. Very nicely done. Lindsay- you’re rockin’ it girl.
