Our friend Paul is a long time wedding photographer in Portland and just an all around entertaining, thoughtful and generous guy. So it came as a pleasant surprise when he emailed us back in December about getting a portrait session for his girlfriend Stephanie (who is also a local wedding photographer!). The Christmas morning gift was happily received and 6 months later, we were trekking to the Columbia Gorge for their Wahkeena Falls portrait session.
It’s always a treat for us to take photos of fellow photographers, even though sometimes we’re completely nervous to do them justice! But it’s equally awesome because being photographers, they know light, timing and posing better than most people. Paul and Stephanie’s easy going personalities made the session a breeze. They were up for anything, including standing in the spray of the falls while we furiously shot them from every angle. And when Daniel had them actually get in the water, followed by putting his camera in the water, for the perfect shot.
After the shoot, the four of us went out to a local pub to talk shop over a couple of beers. It was some of the most fun we have had shooting in a while and no doubt largely in part to the great company we had the pleasure of photographing.
Lindsay & Daniel are among the few photographers in the wedding industry who shoot with a distinctive style – a style that is their own and a style that sets them apart from the sea of photographers who shoot weddings. Their work is refreshingly different. It is for these reasons and many more, that I chose them to capture Steph and I out enjoying the Pacific Northwest. Thank you both for making the session so fun and for producing work that far far exceeded our expectations.
