We’re so happy to bring you Matthew and Brandon’s New York wedding today. Matthew is a playwright with a big, fun Puerto Rican family. Brandon is a school administrator, who originally hails from Portland and wanted to bring a taste of his hometown to his wedding and did so in the form of photography. These two threw a classy, elegant and energetic party for just 50 of their closest friends and family at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in upstate New York. And we were beyond honored to be there to document it.
Their heartfelt, emotional and happy ceremony was performed half way through their delicious cocktail hour, where the couple simply stopped, had the guests make a circle around them and they exchanged their vows. Apparently this marriage was a long time coming for this couple as guests kept expressing their elation (amidst lots of happy tears!) that this was finally happening and that they could finally witness Matthew and Brandon become one.
And if you want to talk about marriage elation, let me tell you that I cannot count on one hand how many times I overheard Matthew or Brandon telling someone, “I’m married now!! I’m freaking married!!!” Sheer joy exuded from these two as the reception got underway. Wine was poured, amazing farm to table food was consumed and a kick ass homemade playlist was pumped through the speakers.
Just one week after their wedding, the Supreme Court made a historic ruling, legalizing same sex weddings for couples everywhere. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect as Matthew and Brandon were given one more reason to celebrate.
Brilliant! I wholeheartedly agree with Erika about the photo with the hands!
