This summer marks our eighth wedding season in Portland and it’s almost a little hard to believe. But what it is more difficult is the fact that Stone and Paula’s brunch wedding was our first time ever photographing at Timberline Lodge, in all of those eight years! If you know Portland, you know that our city’s pride and joy is the stunning Mt. Hood, where up at the top, you’ll find this cozy lodge. Perfect for a beautiful spring wedding and a couple like Stone and Paula.
Stone and Paula are casual, comfortable, loving and appreciate simplicity. Paula got ready in one room of the lodge, slipping into her classy yet sexy gown with her mom and Stone’s mom by her side. While down the hall, Stone and his two sons were figuring out how to put together their ties and nervously awaiting the wedding.
These two had a unique wedding where the guests actively participated in officiating the marriage, actually speaking in unison to deliver the ceremony. After which, there was a traditional Thai water ceremony where each person blessed the couple and offered well wishes by pouring water over their hands. We always appreciate learning a new cultural wedding experience and we’re so happy that we could document this one for Paula and Stone.
But everyone’s personal favorite part of the wedding was when Paula and Stone beautifully executed their first dance, a tango filled with dramatic flair and romantic moments. It was the perfect demonstration of this couple’s style, class and grace. We’re so happy we got to meet Paula and Stone, spend time with their families and photograph their day, at nearly 11,000 feet! A first for us but hopefully not the last. Cheers Stone and Paula!
Wow – stunning as always! The shot that hit me the most was the b/w of the water being poured on the bride’s hand. Its just so intimate and beautiful.
John and I are always blown away by your work. Most creative photos I’ve seen done there.
Nice work guys! Killin it
