High school senior pictures are definitely not what they use to be.
They are full on portrait shoots. A chance to show off your best self. A chance to get creative, come up unique and different ideas. Break the mold.
Before we start the shoot we always do a pre-session consultation. We’ll go over different locations for their senior pictures. Ask what they’re into, what they do for fun, what their plans are after they graduate. All this information helps us come up with ideas that will in capturing unique one of kind senior portraits.
Caroline, better known as Coco to her family and friends, came to us with a unique idea for her senior portraits. She said, “Have you ever photographed colored smoke bombs?” Correct answer…nope! So while we captured all the traditional senior photos for graduation and yearbook images we also made sure to capture Caroline’s artistic vision. The smoke bombs exceeded expectations and made for a really fun session.
Caroline loves photography and video herself so she was enthusiastic about capturing this different approach to senior portraits. Portland senior portraits can be done in a lot of ways, and oftentimes we do these sessions with an urban backdrop or something very “Portland”.
Since Caroline brought this specific vision to us, we decided to shoot at a local favorite spot that would have the PNW vibe but plenty of space to play. Thus, we took full advantage of the grounds of Hoyt Arboretum.
Between the smoke bombs and the Pacific Northwest trees, this shoot was perfectly fitting for a west coast girl who is off to college in Florida this fall.
We’re happy we could capture these memories of her Portland home as well as the memories we made with Coco’s creative vision!
