It feels like a good time to bring you a sunny beachy wedding. Yes, that’s what we need right now. Lucky for us, we have this cute little Carlsbad California wedding in the blog line up and it’s ready for sharing! Korina and Cameron are both Portlanders but for their nuptials, they chose the backyard of Cameron’s parents’ Carlsbad California home. We have known Korina for a few years. We share some really close friends and have photographed multiple weddings within the family/friend network.
We actually first met Cameron at a backyard BBQ at a friend’s house in Portland. We had known Korina for some time at this point and the two had recently started dating. It was pretty evident that they were smitten. Their personalities are so well matched. Both have easy going, laid back vibes with understated humor. We weren’t surprised to watch their relationship progress (via social media) and even less surprised when Korina announced they were engaged. She immediately reached out to us and well, we can fast forward to the good part now…their wedding!
A backyard wedding is often a reflection of a couple’s personality. Just like Korina and Cameron, this wedding was relaxing, intimate and simply focused around everyone having a good time. Since the house was just a short drive to Carlsbad State beach, Daniel had the chance to take their photos on the beach, not one but twice.
Before the beach sunset portraits came a short & sweet ceremony, followed by a lovely little poolside reception. During which, there were endearing family toasts with shots of tequila, a delicious taco feast catered by Tacos y Gorditas and a first dance between palm trees. Because this is California, the light was near perfect at every moment of the day. But the best light came at sunset when Korina, Cameron and Daniel went back down to the beach. After some cute and cozy photos that would have been just fine by themselves, Korina decided to throw caution to the wind. Off came the shoes and into the ocean she went. Running without a care in the world, her new husband hesitated for about half a minute and then followed suit. It was easily one of the most romantic scenes we’ve been able to photograph recently and this moment is now a memory for everyone.
Honestly, running into the ocean in your wedding dress is the perfect metaphor for getting married. That feeling of leaning in and giving in to what feels right. When you know, you know. And then you jump in.
Cheers Korina and Cameron!
Hey Daniel and Lindsay, it’s great to see you guys are still actively blogging. I hope you’re doing okay during this difficult time. Love the sunset shot and the rest of the photos. Your work is amazing, as always.
