Cris and Carrie were married in one of the most serene and magical places we have ever been to…the Turks and Caicos islands in the caribbean. We were introduced through a mutual friend and during our meeting, when Cris talked about his Zombie running app that Daniel had to download, we knew we had hit it off. A few months later, we found ourselves descending onto a seemingly make believe island for a week of fun and laughter with some really great people.
Cris has an energy that is all it’s own. He loves to embarrass Carrie with his crazy dance grinding and make her laugh with silly jokes to no end. This was right up our alley, seeing as our own relationship is very much the same. Carrie is elegant, graceful and simply gorgeous. She’s also smart and savvy, with a head of hair that most women would die for. Needless to say, we had no trouble pointing our cameras at these two every chance we could get.
We arrived in Turks and Caicos a couple days early and were immediately welcomed as if we were lifelong friends. We were included and encouraged to come to every activity they had planned for their guests. One of the most special experiences for us was the sunset cruise before the rehearsal dinner, 2 days prior to the wedding. As everyone sipped the classic local drink, rum punch, Daniel and I were on a photography high, snapping every moment in this incredibly dreamy backdrop.
Cris and Carrie have a network of friends and family that literally stretches the entire globe. Cris’ mom is from Argentina and his dad is British. His brother lives in Mexico. His sister in Scotland. His parents have a house in Portugal. After that, you have friends from every corner of their life, college, work, yoga, the list goes on. This fabulous group of people became our fabulous group of people. We were definitely on first name basis by the time the wedding came and we can tell you, that is the perfect recipe for honest, real photographs.
Their ceremony took place at Mother’s House, a freaking fantastic beach house that is rented for events and weddings and overlooks the island. The ceremony was just like Cris and Carrie…sweet, endearing and with touches of humor. What followed was…well, a kick ass party. Cris and Carrie entertained us with a mashed up, well coordinated first dance. Carrie and her dad surprised us all with an equally cute and perfectly practiced father daughter dance. Then Cris and his mom made us all laugh until we peed with what can only be described as, the most hard core, rockin’ mother son dance you’ve ever seen.
The rest of the party went on about the same, with hilarious dancing, loud singing, sweaty hugs and a whole lot of love. It was truly awesome. We are so, so, so grateful to be have been a part of this celebration. And it’s evident by Daniel’s weekly texts with Cris, that we truly have made friends in this amazing couple. We’re seeing them tonight for dinner actually, where if we’re lucky, Cris will bust out in dance and grind on Carrie. And we’ll take photos of it. Can’t wait.
