Amidst an extremely hot summer in the Pacific Northwest, we arrived to Hannah & Keith’s Government Cove engagement session…in the pouring rain. From our car to theirs, with a dash of enthusiasm, Daniel and I shouted “let’s wait 5 minutes and see what happens!” Cue nervous laughter. Seriously folks, it was dumping. When it comes to photoshoots, we are eternal optimists who believe in making magic happen in any circumstance. But the Columbia River Gorge can be a cold and windy beast when it feels like it. For the first time, we were a little nervous about how this shoot would go. But then about 5 minutes later, the rain suddenly stopped. The photo gods were listening!
It goes without saying that photographing a Government Cove engagement session is so unique. You get a 360 view of Columbia Gorge (a stunning scene in it’s own right) but there is also an array of rock formations and mossy greenery that complete the package. It’s become popular amongst photographers in recent years. Yet on this day, we had it all to ourselves. I believe we can thank that crazy weather for this!
We had SO much fun with these two! Keith knows how to make Hannah laugh at any moment, while at the same time wrapping her up in an embrace that makes her radiate calm. Hannah and Keith are equal parts hilarious, sensitive, sexy and so much fun. We trekked all over Government Cove and had the absolute most best time laughing with these two. Especially when we had them practice dancing. Keith nailed a perfect dip, only to allllmost drop Hannah on the ground. To which they erupted in laughter and exchanged kisses right there in the dirt.
This engagement session marked a moment when we realized that you can never trust PNW weather. But you can trust that if you take it in stride and make the best of your time together, your photos will reflect that. Keith & Hannah exude joy and ease because they feel joy and ease when they’re together. No matter the weather. Hell yes to having a love like that!
