This summer, Daniel had the privilege to document Josh and Julia’s sweet little Han Oak wedding on the Friday before 4th of July. While it is a rarity to not have us both photographing a wedding, we do have exceptions from time to time and in this case, Daniel was definitely the lucky one.
Josh and Julia had a winding road to their wedding, with some unfortunate and fortunate twists and turns along the way. But through it all, they were together. When the day finally made it to fruition, Josh and Julia chose a simple route. They would get ready in their NE Portland home. Julia would pop out of an RV for the first look! They would take photos with their two dogs in front of the house. They would gather their closest friends and family members at a new, hip Korean restaurant, where this would only be the owner’s second wedding hosted and there’s pink flamingos painted on the outside. Guests would watch them exchange vows. Josh’s mom and sister and niece would sit front row together. Julia would accidentally put the ring on the wrong finger of Josh, which no one would notice until later during the reception. There would be consumption of delicious and beautifully prepared food. A DJ from California would play their favorite tunes. And the best surprise would be Julia’s gift to her dad. A live mariachi band…a daughter’s nod to her dad’s heritage and a symbol of her appreciation of him.
These elements are what made Josh and Julia’s wedding one of this summer’s best. The simple gratitude for everyone you love, including each other, and a party to celebrate it.
Cheers J&J, it was our honor and we wish you a lifetime of happy memories together!
