I’m sorry, but can you even call yourself a photographer if you haven’t photographed a wedding at a former wheat mill that used to produce Cheez-Its and is now a charming winery and wedding venue? Okay, maybe that was a reach but you can’t make this up!
We love a venue with history. The Sunshine Mill Winery has the history, the charm, the beauty and the unique character that made us extra excited to photograph all the possibilities there. We are so thankful to this incredibly kind and amazing couple, Kyle and Tiffany, for throwing the most perfect Sunshine Mill Winery wedding one could ask for.
Like many couples, Kyle & Tiffany had to postpone their 2020 wedding. Yet they did so in absolute stride. And I have a feeling this is how they approach most things in their life. You could say Kyle and Tiffany even found this venue “in stride”. They were on a road trip through Southwest Washington and Oregon, stopping randomly to find little gems and wineries. Kyle and Tiffany describe themselves as a couple who love spontaneity and finding surprises along the way, especially while traveling. They randomly pulled into the Dalles, Oregon and when they arrived at Sunshine Mill Winery, they knew they had found more than just a quaint place with great wine. They had also found a wonderful place to get married.
One of the most unique aspects to Sunshine Mill Winery is the original wheat silo that towers over the Tuscan courtyard. There’s an eclectic and fun interior as well. One decorated with old signs, rustic metals and string lights that make you feel warm and cozy. The best part of a Sunshine Mill Winery wedding is the fact that you get to climb atop the old silo at sunset for portraits.
This is the perfect place to stop and thank our amazing second shooter for this wedding, Jos Woodsmith! Not only was he a huge help, but he is a good friend of ours who loves to have fun shooting together. And of course, Jos was 100% game for the silo climb. The last shot of this slideshow of images is from Jos and not surprisingly, it’s a breathtaking image. Jos also takes credit for images 1, 8, 13, 23, 24, 25. Thank you, friend.
Enjoy a handful of our favorites from this incredibly epic Columbia Gorge wedding at a place that we cannot wait to return to!
