You guys. We seriously love this couple. Not only are Matt and Christina a couple of hilarious, slightly raucous and super energetic people; they are also the kindest, most sincere and authentic people we’ve had the pleasure of photographing. And their Left Bank Annex wedding this summer was also our first Greek Orthodox wedding in the states! We had photographed one overseas before, in Cyprus, so this gave us the chance to see what it’s like when blended with American traditions. The whole schebang didn’t disappoint and we had a blast from start to finish.
The day began at the Greek Orthodox church in Portland, Holy Trinity Cathedral, where the couple got ready with close friends and family followed by the accompaniment of over 300 guests for their traditional ceremony. Even though these ceremonies are lengthy, Matt and Christina’s was filled with touching moments of love and endearing smiles toward their loving audience. After the ceremony…the party started!! And if you have been to a Greek wedding before, you know what we mean!
We didn’t know what to expect so when Matt began pouring champagne down Christina’s throat, BEFORE the reception, we knew we were in for a ride. From the wedding party toasts to the traditional Greek dancing to the bouquet and garter toss- we were smiling from ear to ear while capturing all the fun. We can’t end this blog post without a shout out to Whitney Werts, who planned this event flawlessy and had her eyes and ears on this grand event at every moment. Thank you Whitney! And congrats Matt & Christina! OPA!
