It’s not every weekend that we photograph an event that is one part Indian wedding and one part Italian wedding. In fact, it’s never happened before! Thankfully Sudeshna and Joe asked us to document this unique blending of love and family for their Ponzi Winery wedding on Fourth of July.
The day before the festivities, Daniel photographed the traditional henna ceremony, performed by Sudeshna’s aunt. The following morning, we were back for the big day. The Indian ceremony was held at the Oregon Historical Society. Sudeshna and Joe were troopers in their traditional Indian wedding attire and were all smiles during their hot, midday ceremony. It is always a special treat to photograph a wedding of another culture and we especially love the proud look on Sudeshna’s mom’s face as the couple partook in the many important ceremonial steps towards marriage.
After a short break and an outfit change for everyone, the celebration moved to the beautiful Ponzi Winery where Joe and his family shared their Italian rooted traditions in a more Western style ceremony for the couple. Joe and Sudeshna exchanged heartfelt vows, the sun made Joe’s ring a little bit more difficult to fit on and 80 friends and family cheered them on in a circle around the altar. In a slight change from the samosas and naan served at the Indian ceremony, guests dined on pasta and drank red wine as we witnessed one of the most stunning sunsets all summer.
It was the perfect way to marry two people and two families who will now begin a lifetime of celebrating together. Joe and Sudeshna are seeing their photos for the first time from their honeymoon in Spain right now and we hope you all enjoy a few of our favorites from their amazing day!
Special thanks to Molli Barss and her team at Soiree Events who coordinated and orchestrated this incredible day!
