Rick and Karyn have a truly unique story of finding love, losing love and finding it again. These two met when they were teenagers, married young and a few years later, went their separate ways. In the span of the 30 years that followed, each met and married again and had children of their own. Those marriages went their separate ways as well and eventually, both were looking for love again, this time in their 50’s, not their 20’s. Well thanks to their own curiosity and the power of social media, Rick and Karyn reconnected one day on none other than Facebook. After learning each other’s stories and finding they had a lot more in common than either expected, a flame sparked once more and they began dating…again.
We met Rick and Karyn on a Sunday, the morning after Rick hosted a company party for his employees at the Heathman Hotel, where they would have their wedding a few months later. Both were nursing champagne hangovers (as were we…) and they told us about their upcoming 2nd trip down the aisle together. They expressed it quite simply. They were too young during their first marriage, are incredibly grateful for the beautiful families they have raised since and even more grateful for being brought back together, so many years later. They wanted a simple ceremony with a nice dinner for their 7 guests: Rick, Karyn, their 2 daughters and respective husbands and one of their granddaughters. (The other is only an infant who stayed home for the wedding.)
We had a great discussion over bloody’s and coffee, there were many laughs and it was an obvious meeting of minds between us. But what we really appreciated was how Rick ended that first meeting. He said, “You guys are obviously talented. But you’re real and professional. And I like that.” The feeling was mutual and we couldn’t wait to photograph their wedding.
We’re thrilled we could bring these photos to Rick and Karyn, who so absolutely deserve to be together and even more so, deserve the love they bring each other. Their story is a true testament to what love really is and the happiness we’re all seeking. Whether new, old, or rediscovered, let it find you and remind you that it’s never too late to be as happy as these two are.
Lots of fun emotions in your images.

I cried reading about their story. So beautiful.
Beautiful story and image, as usual, you guys! I love meaningful relationships that seem to have been written in the stars. When it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be! :) <3
