Vivek and Erin gave us the opportunity to photograph our first Indian wedding. We knew we were in for a lot of fun when we arrived to Vivek’s baraat, which was one of the most colorful and lively gatherings of people we’ve ever seen. An elephant wasn’t in the cards that day so Vivek rode in the Portland way….on a pedicab. It also happened to be in the 90 degree temps that day but that didn’t stop the nearly 300 guests from cheering, dancing and just plain celebrating their way through this wedding.
Vivek and Erin are both attorneys who had just recently moved from Washington DC to Atlanta, Georgia when we photographed their wedding here in Portland. They are both excellent at what they do and know exactly what they want, which is why we’re not surprised that they chose a killer team of vendors to bring their wedding to life. We always love to work with the fabulous Emee Pumarega, of EJP Events, who planned a seamless day for their Castaway wedding.
Set against the iconic Fremont Bridge, their outdoor ceremony was everything we thought it would be. A beautiful coming together of two people and their families as well as a cultural immersion for the both of us. When the reception got underway, a feast of delicious traditional Indian fare from Portland’s own East India Company was served, Bollywood style dancing was quickly introduced by the awesome DJ team of Brett Bell and Prashant Kakad, and even Daniel and I hopped in their sweet, vintage style Photo Booth from local company, Happy Matic.
Needless to say, this was one of our most eventful and exciting weddings of the summer. It was fun, vibrant, rich in color and an absolute treat for us to photograph. Thank you Vivek and Erin for choosing us to be your photographers!
