Ah, we have waited long enough to blog this gorgeous, sunset kissed, tree enclosed and ridiculously romantic Camp Colton wedding! Keith and Hannah, our new best friends, were married on a perfect day in September at Camp Colton, a unique little wedding venue south of Portland. Home to your classic Pacific Northwest forest trees, a waterfall, cute little cabins and a gorgeous chapel…Camp Colton is definitely a “best kept secret” type of venue.
Before this dreamy day arrived, we had the opportunity to get to know Keith and Hannah during their blustery, slightly rainy, very fun and very Oregon engagement session. You can read all about the laughs and fun that were had on that Government Cove Engagement post. I could build this up more but the point is, we were so darn excited for their wedding day to come. We had last photographed a Camp Colton wedding a few years prior and since then, the venue has made some amazing updates including a gorgeous reception patio and a getting ready cabin for the bride.
Hannah got ready in this cabin, with her closest girlfriends and mom by her side. Her friends were so welcoming to me (Lindsay) as I navigated around the space, capturing little moments between Hannah and her friends as they chatted and laughed about what seemed like a really great rehearsal dinner. You could tell Hannah had history with these women, and that is one of my favorite parts of the job. Seeing and photographing relationships that obviously hold so much meaning. This is what you want to be surrounded by on your wedding day!
Keith & Hannah chose not to have a first look but rather to see each other for the first time as Hannah walked down the aisle by her brother. Every couple we meet asks us if they should have a first look or not. While it’s true that you can take a lot of your photos beforehand that way, there is something so treasured and sentimental about waiting until THE moment to see each other.
After exchanging funny and sweet vows, Keith & Hannah recessed with their drop-dead-gorgeous wedding party and then we took ALL the photos. Which was ALL the fun! Before entering back into the reception, Daniel and I took full advantage of Camp Colton’s grounds. Sneaking photos of Keith & Hannah with the last light dropping behind the trees, walking amongst the lush greenery that came at you from every direction, and stopping to sit by the property’s little waterfall for a few photos.
Then.. there was a party! A real good one at that! Set amongst strings of bulb lights while nestled in the forest, we witnessed some hilarious speeches, long awaited laughs shared between old friends, and one kid who particularly killed it on the dance floor. The best part was Keith’s mom taking a turn at the DJ helm. Need we say more? Congrats to this incredible couple for having the most incredible wedding, for guests to enjoy and us to photograph! We are all so lucky.
