We were lucky enough to photograph not one, but two Gorge Crest Vineyards weddings this year and we are so excited to bring you the first one on our blog. If you don’t know Gorge Crest Vineyards, it is an amazing Oregon wedding venue that is nestled above the Columbia Gorge. Sweeping gorge views abound, Mt. Hood stares you smack in the face from every angle and the venue’s private grape vines combined with wildflower gardens offer you that classic Oregon winery feeling. Oh and it should be mentioned that it also ticks the Pacific Northwest vibe with a forest trail around the property that is adorned with cozy hammocks and string lights for romantic night portraits. Seriously you guys…this place.
Now to this couple. Natalie and Hai are salt of the earth. They are kind, compassionate and just plain wonderful. Hai is a pediatric dentist and he’s so nice that he even let Lindsay ask him all kinds of random dental questions for our kids during their Cathedral Park engagement session earlier in the year.
When the day came for us to photograph their Columbia Gorge wedding, we felt so at ease going into the day. Truly, that’s a rarity. While we really do love all our couples, we almost always have some nervous jitters and anxiety about pleasing them. Which is a good thing! But I have to say, we didn’t feel that at all with Natalie and Hai and it was a welcome feeling. To feel like you were photographing the wedding of two good friends, even though they are your clients.
Natalie and Hai had many emotional moments throughout their wedding at Gorge Crest Vineyards. We’re pretty sure no one cried more than Hai himself and Natalie’s dad. We find it so lovely and refreshing when a groom and father-in-law can express themselves like that. The emotional moments gave way to pure celebration with dancing under Gorge Crest Vineyards’ famous dance floor which is encompassed in bulb string lights.
No Columbia Gorge wedding is complete without a few epic portraits as the sun sets over Mt. Hood in the distance. The photos do it *some* justice but honestly, we wish you could see it for yourself. It’s awe inspiring and quite frankly, there’s no setting more romantic than this. We hope brides planning a Gorge Crest Vineyards wedding find this blog and say to themselves, “Yes! That’s why I’m getting married there!” We totally get it!
