“You were both such a joy to work with and just to be around as people. I hope you know how important the work that you do is. You are tellers of real stories and memorializers of relationships and love. You are bottlers of time.
Much love to you both,
Katrin”
Katrin and Bryan’s Mt. Hood Organic Farms wedding was one of sheer beauty. The moment the couple arrived on the charming red Double Decker Bus PDX led us to believe that this would be one of the most endearing and romantic weddings of our summer. Katrin was on the top level of the bus, while Bryan and his groomsmen exited from the bottom level. He didn’t dare look up to see her but the sight of her peering through the windows at him was a scene from a storybook wedding.
Mt. Hood Organic Farms has can easily be described as a charming secret garden meets jaw dropping mountain setting. The grounds are just a dream to walk through and every time we photograph here, we talk about renting the entire place out for a family vacation. It just feels so relaxing and like a fairytale. Not to mention Mount Hood towering behind the apple house where receptions are held. More on that later…
Katrin and Bryan’s mountain wedding day began with them surrounded by some of the most supportive wedding attendants we’ve ever met. The women with Katrin were a mix of family and friends, but it was so evident that Katrin held each of them in such deep regard. She tenderly toasted them as she passed thoughtful gifts. After which, the ladies helped Katrin slip into a floor length gown, with her mother by her side for the final touches. Katrin paired this simple yet stunning look with red lips…a photographer favorite to photograph!
Meanwhile, Bryan and the guys had a traditional whiskey toast with a host of laughs which always has us pressing to remember what the joke was when we go through the photos later. Must have been something good! Bryan did not disappoint in matching Katrin’s elegant look by wearing a custom tux that fit his tall and slender figure to a T. By the time we got to their first look, I must reiterate, it felt like page from a fairytale marriage story.
Vows were exchanged with Mt. Hood in the background, who was sheepishly hiding behind a few clouds. Fear not, because her majesty gave us the most amazing appearance during sunset of course. YES. It was so great that while Daniel and I were eating outside ourselves on a little break, we slowly watched the clouds move to the side and then dropped our forks and literally ran for Katrin and Bryan. Haha, what a couple of photographer dorks but hey, look at the photos. We couldn ‘t miss the opportunity and it was also a really nice time for Katrin and Bryan to take a break and gaze together at the place where they’d chosen to marry.
No Mt. Hood Organic Farms wedding is complete without a party in the apple house! The apple house, where yes they sell apples during harvest time, is just the cutest little spot to toast your guests and dance the night away. With black-and-white checkered floors, dreamy chandeliers, rustic apple boxes strewn about and big glass windows, the apple house completes the quintessential feeling of an Oregon wedding in the summertime.
Thank you to Cassandra Cass, her assistant Kristin and the Mt. Hood Organic Farms owner, Brady, for both providing this amazing space and also being the best coordinating team in the gorge. You guys rock!
