We’re asked a lot about how our clients find us. And while it’s a combination of many things, including online search, social media and referrals, there’s a small slice every year that come from some other, special place in our lives. Whether it’s a random connection (Example, in October, we’re photographed wedding of the sister of someone who was at a yoga retreat with us in Santorini in 2012!) or a long lost pal, these little stories are ones that we’re so thankful are part of our client rolodex. In this case, Matt is a long lost pal of Daniel’s from the early college days and when he emailed that he was engaged to Angela, we were thrilled that they first thing they “had to do” was book Stark Photography.
Angela is easy going, easy to like and easy to photograph. Matt on the other hand…just kidding, we just know he’s reading this. They were both, simply put, a breeze to work with. We arrived at their Youngberg Hill wedding, started shooting and laughing with them and didn’t stop doing either until after the fireworks and hugs at the end of the night. More on that soon!
It had been way too long since our last Youngberg Hill wedding and we weren’t going to take it for granted that we had the opportunity to be back. This venue is the bees knees for Oregon winery weddings. Aside from literally being a venue that “has it all” (bed and breakfast, dance floor, ballroom in case of rain, parking!), the grounds alone offer stunning, sweeping views of the vines and being perched atop a long sloping driveway. The videographer, Kevin Ryan, had his drone handy and was so gracious to let Daniel take an aerial shot of Matt & Angela in the vines.
Matt & Angela planned a perfect wedding for Youngberg Hill, with the help of the ever amazing Bridal Bliss planning team. Jennifer O’Leary, who has since hung up her wedding planning hat and will be sorely missed, did not miss a beat and we’re so happy we could together for one of her last gigs before she went on to her next career adventure.
Perhaps the most exciting part of the night was the grand finale. One no one was expecting and one that we were more than a little excited to capture. The team at Youngberg Hill had pulled some strings with a local firework company and to the delight of all the guests, treated Matt & Angela with a stunning firework display to close out a spectacular day. We’ve literally never seen a couple have their own private firework show at a wedding and it’s definitely going to stay in our minds as one of the best wedding conclusions ever.
Thank you Matt and Angela for coming back into our lives and giving us the opportunity to document yours!
